Unveiling the Latest Residential Interior Design Color Trends

As we delve into the vibrant world of color and residential interior design trends in 2023, let's explore the hues that are defining stylish homes this year.

Reviving Classics with a Modern Twist: Earth Tones

This year, we have seen a resurgence of earth tones in interior design. These comforting, grounding colors connect us to nature, instilling a sense of calm and tranquility in our living spaces. Shades of terracotta, olive green, and muted browns are prominent, creating a warm, welcoming ambiance.

Boldly Bright: Vibrant Statement Colors

Next on the list, bold statement colors have secured their place in the limelight. Bright shades of cobalt blue, fiery red, and electric orange bring dynamic energy into homes, beautifully contrasted against minimalist décor. These audacious hues demand attention, making any room vibrant and exciting.

Balancing Act: Soft Pastels

On the other end of the spectrum, soft pastels are offering a soothing retreat. Muted lavender, sky blue, and pale yellow provide a calming respite from our hectic lives. These colors promote a serene, relaxed environment, perfect for rooms intended for rest and rejuvenation.

Aesthetic Appeal: Monochrome

The monochrome trend continues to reign in 2023. With its timeless appeal, monochrome – whether in shades of crisp white, elegant black, or sophisticated gray – delivers a sleek, modern aesthetic. This trend offers simplicity and elegance, adding a sense of sophistication to any space.

Natural Neutrals: The Go-To Choice

Lastly, neutral colors remain a popular choice for residential interiors. Classic beige, light gray, and creamy white foster a versatile and timeless look, easily complemented with bursts of accent colors.

Overall, it may be said the color trends in residential interior design are a diverse blend of earth tones, vibrant shades, soft pastels, monochromatic hues, and timeless neutrals. Each palette brings a unique atmosphere, from calming and serene to dynamic and energetic. Embrace these trends to create a home that is a reflection of your personal style and taste.

Project: Beach House

This project is on the South Shore of Boston in a charming, coastal community complete with stunning beaches, restaurants, quaint shops and a picturesque harbor.

I have had the privilege of working here before.  Ten years ago I helped a family of four remodel and design their first home in this beach town.  And now I am helping this family once again!  This time, a new project…a gut renovation for their forever home!

This project was as special to me ten years ago as it is now.  This is for several reasons but, mostly because I have been life-long friends with the owners.  Cara and Shane - along with their two children Murphy and Ava (and dog Holly) are taking on the biggest project of their lives!

I have known Cara since we were 11 years old and Shane since High School.  Needless to say, when they asked me to embark on this journey with them, I jumped right in!  Doing what I love - with the people I love - is such a gift.

The Belvin’s new home is located just outside Scituate Harbor with a waterfront view that would take your breath away.  It was a perfect fit but, the three floor home needed to be renovated in a big way.  This home was not a “love at first sight” but rather a love for it’s potential.  Cara and Shane were able to see right through it’s 90’s décor and dated layout.  They could see its potential - and so we got to work on a vision board and countless drawings to set the wheels in motion!

Front Entryway-Before

Part of the charm in this 3-story home was the fact it was an “upside-down house” with a kitchen on the 2nd floor and stunning ocean views. But, the house was a bit top-heavy with a challenging layout, odd rooms, and unsafe decks.  The task, to make this home look less awkward from the outside and more functional on the inside.  We set out to give it a coastal California vibe with a bit of a Mediterranean twist.

Covid has us all thinking about our homes.  Being home so much has us all contemplating what works, what doesn’t, what we love and what we could do without.  With us all homeschooling and working from home, office space is at a premium.  Our kitchens are on overdrive and many times they just aren’t cut out for how we need them to function.  With so much togetherness, private, quiet relaxing spaces are also desperately needed.

Are you ready to make some changes in your home but not sure how during a pandemic?   Virtual Design is the new design of the times.  What exactly is virtual design?  The internet and our digital capabilities have allowed us all to conduct business from home and interior design is no exception.  Virtual design consists of full design plans which are sent to you digitally.  It gives you that same curated, custom, designer look with professional guidance.  With no actual physical contact, it is a great option during such trying times.

At R+B the design plan is completely interactive, consists of floor plans, design concept boards, and full product list with instructions on how to complete the design. The client can purchase directly from the page or can opt to have the ordering managed by us. Meetings are usually held via zoom or face-time calls.  At Romeo + Baglio we use our same expertise, provide our same resources, and tradespeople as full-scale in-person design.

This service is great for those who want the curated designer look without the in-person contact. You get that special, unique, high-level design to help you create that cohesive space you desire.

        Rebecca Baglio and Andrea Romeo

We are excited to announce that Andrea Romeo, founder of Kate Reece Design has taken on a partner!  After meeting years ago when their children attended pre-school together, they became instant friends.  Rebecca Baglio and Andrea Romeo have gone from friends to creative partners in this new, exciting endeavor.

Both women share a love of design, creating beautiful spaces and servicing their loyal client base.  Andrea and Rebecca bring diverse talents and backgrounds as well as their individual design styles.  A seed was planted when they began working together on Rebecca's home in Ridgefield and on special projects in Hilton Head, South Carolina with her husband, an attorney and business owner of Pinnacle Development Group. The ladies enjoyed working together so much that they tossed around the idea of joining forces.  It was then that they realized this could be the perfect collaboration that would make Kate Reece Design a cut above!

Rebecca began her career as a corporate attorney and has also been an intricate part of many real estate development projects with Pinnacle Development Group on Hilton Head Island overseeing most of the design process for new construction and remodeled homes.  With her knowledge, experience and focus on client relations, she will be a welcome asset to our design firm. Rebecca's professional experience and love of design coupled with Andrea's longstanding work in interior design spanning residential, commercial, and new construction projects will be the perfect union of two skilled and very creative women.

We hope that you will join us on this exciting new journey as we look to take KRD to new heights while remaining a premier boutique design firm that keeps clients needs at the forefront!
